An intelligent, funny and touching portrait of a Québécois family, reunited for the funeral service of Mr Jos, their husband, father and uncle, Le Secret de ma Mère takes place during a snowstorm in Montreal on New Year’s Day. Despite the sadness of the event, a festive mood gathers around Jeanne (Céline Bonnier), daughter of the 70-year-old deceased and his ex-wife Blanche (Ginette Reno), from whom he’s been separated for 20 years. Through many well-executed flashbacks we witness the ups and downs of this vibrant man and his family. With the remembrances of his peers and the inquisitiveness of his daughter, a family secret is revealed that shakes its established order.

Le secret de ma Mère reveals the fragile bonds between mothers and daughters and the soul-searching that arises when this bond is threatened.
